About the author

Kay MacFarlane was born on the outskirts of Glasgow. She left school at 15, and worked first in off-sales and then in Ladies’ Boutiques. After raising four children with her husband, she spent 16 years working with disadvantaged young people. She then left to pursue her ambition of running her own business and launched a very successful local newspaper and built up her own publishing company.

During this time Kay discovered the joys of writing and Katy Coburn was born. Katy Coburn and the Silver Egg was published in 2006 to great reviews.

After the tragic deaths of her husband, mother and brother to cancer, she set up Cure Cancer Scotland, a registered charity that raises money in the fight against the disease.
